Happy Spring!

Spring is officially here (major YAAASSSSSS) and you know what that means, right?!? SPRING HAIR TRENDS!!!! Let's explore, shall we?

Haircuts

It's no secret that the "lob" has been the trend for a few years now. From just dusting the top of the shoulders to just past the shoulders and with all kinds of angles, it was beginning to look like the trend was here to stay. Well, my friends, say buh-bye to the lob and hello to the shag! The shag cut is back and making some major waves in the hair world. It's super cool and super versatile at any length, and the easiest cut to transition to from your beloved lob.

I've also been seeing a lack of fringe as of late as well. Maybe last year's obsession with blunt bangs convinced us to not ever get them again. At least until next year. Or until we've had one glass of wine too many and we just have to have bangs in that exact moment. No? Just me?? Okay....moving on....

Short and sassy is the name of the game with cuts this spring. If you're not bold enough for the shag, consider taking that blunt lob to a sleek blunt bob a la Gwyneth Paltrow in "The Royal Tennanbaums."

Color

Just like the lob, "lived-in" color has been a thing for what seems like forever, and I honestly don't hate it! Although, what was once an ombre is now a more high maintenance baby light with a shadow root in the highlights world. This is a beautiful look, just maybe be prepared to hit the salon a tad more often than you did with your grown out subtle balayage look.

Giselle Bündchen

If you're more of a traditional foil gal, I've got some good news for you - chunky highlights are making a comeback! We're not quite to the Kelley Clarkson era of chunky dark and light, but it's on it's way so don't be scared to flaunt it if you want it!

One of my clients that we added some large balayaged blonde pops on her natural brunette hair.

If you're really wild then you'll love that vivid are still here and they're nothing to sneeze at. From red to violet and every color of the rainbow in between, anything goes with vibrant colors so just do that pink you've been eyeing up since last summer already. Major PS here though - vivid services done right take hours to complete and can wreak havoc on your hair so add some extra funds to your budget for maintenance and quality products to make it last.

'Tis moi with vibrant pink-red hair. With the right routine my color stayed vibrant for about 2 months before I actually had to remove it to get a color change!

In my last post (here) I talked all about the "going grey" trend. Listen, women are empowered now more than ever and gone are the days of us saying that grey only looks good on guys. Because, honestly, it can look AMAZING on women, too!

For the Guys

It's 2019 and we want our guys groomed, stylish, and as gentlemanly as Chris Evans at the 2019 Oscars. Every person in your life right now wants to see you looking put together, so trim that beard and get to the barber ASAP. Your spouse/mom/friend/boss can thank me later. ;)
